Pigs in a Blanket on a Stick

Today I have a fun breakfast idea for you!  It is SUPER quick to make and I have a feeling kids would love it.  The kid in me sure did!
Start by mixing up a batch of your favorite pancake batter.
Pour it into a large, tall glass
Fry up a few sausages.  I used the pre-cooked turkey sausages.  Quick and easy, just the way I like it…wait…don't take that the wrong way.
I always save chop sticks since I use them for random things around the house…here is one of them.  Skewer the sausages
Dip each one of them into the pancake batter
 So they are fully coated
 Like so
Place them into hot oil that has been preheated to 350 degrees.
Just for a few minutes until it's golden brown
Let them drain on paper towels.  They do stay warm for quite some time so don't be afraid to cook them in batches
 Serve with warm maple syrup
Come on, how fun are these?
And I have to say…fried pancake batter--pretty unstoppable.
 Andd….duuunnk.
 and devour.

Pigs in a Blanket on a Stick

1 batch of your favorite pancake mix, prepared
6 cooked sausage links
6 chop sticks
oil, for frying (I used canola)
Warm maple syrup, for serving

Start by preheating the oil on medium heat to 350 degrees.

Pour the pancake batter into a tall glass.  Insert the chop sticks into the end of each sausage link.  Dip each sausage into the pancake batter so it is fully covered.

Gently, slowly, lower the chop stick into the oil.  These will only cook for maybe 2 minutes so be sure to not crowd the oil or put them in too quickly, you don't want them to stick together.

Remove them from the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.

Serve with warm maple syrup.

Enjoy!

  1. Would these work if I just dropped them in the oil without a skewer?
