Grilled Asparagus and an Alexia Foods Giveaway! WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!

Friday, April 13, 2012

Remember when I posted about Alexia Foods?  Well, I'm back at it again!  They enjoyed my post so they offered to send me more free stuff (and provide a GIVEAWAY for YOU but I will get to that)--to my house this time, I didn't even have to go to the grocery store with a "free item" coupon.  I know, so much work.  It was delivered to me!
In this box...
On dry ice.  Man, I can get used to this whole having free food sent to my door step thing.
These were by far our favorite!  We opened them up the night they showed up on our door step and Mr. Schwartz said, "Parmesan, LEMON Waffle Fries?!  Sounds weird."  I have to admit, I was a bit skeptic myself.  To both of our surprise they were awesome!  So good.  I'm a huge ketchup fan and didn't have to drench them in ketchup….but I sill did.

I made them to go along with asparagus for dinner.  Yep, waffle fries and asparagus.  I was trying out this new fish--not my favorite.  I tried the fish and decided I would only eat waffle fries, wait, Parmesan Lemon Waffle Fries and asparagus for dinner.  Here's how I made the asparagus.

Musical Selection: Kids (MGMT cover) by: The Kooks
Start with a bit of canola/vegetable oil
Add some Montreal Chicken seasoning.  This stuff is my absolute favorite.  It scream summer to me.  We ingest about 5 lbs each of this stuff each summer. It's great.
A little pepper
Large pinch of salt
Worcestershire sauce
And red pepper flakes.  Give it a good mix.
Then work on the asparagus.  Wash it (duh) then take an end in each hand and snap it.  It will break where the stock gets woody and that will be where you will cut the rest.
Like so.
Place the asparagus on a baking sheet
Pour on the sauce
And give them a toss to coat
Ready.  Bake them for 8 minutes in an oven that has been preheated to 375 degrees.  Once they are cooked (they will still be slightly crisp, just like we like them).  You can serve them piping hot or at room temperature.
There they are, along with those glorious Parmesan Lemon Waffle Fries!
Perfection.
Check out all that flavor!

**Alexia Foods is sponsoring this post however, as usual, these are my own opinions.  I really do LOVE Alexia Foods, what can I say?!**

Roasted Asparagus
1 Bunch of asparagus
1 1/2 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil
2 teaspoons Montreal Chicken seasoning
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
A few shakes of red pepper flakes (more or less to your taste)

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.  Cut the asparagus to remove the woody ends.  Lay the asparagus on a baking sheet.

Combine the oil, Montreal Chicken seasoning, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and red pepper flakes.

Pour the sauce over the asparagus, toss to coat.  Roast in the oven for about 8 minutes or a little longer depending on how tender you want the asparagus.

The asparagus can be served hot or at room temperature.

Enjoy!

  1. Potatoes tend to be a weakness of mine so it's really really difficult for me to pick one thing to try. I do like a good waffle fry though.
