Semi-Homemade Ranch Dressing

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Do you love ranch dressing?  We sure do! Well, maybe I should be more specific, Mr. Schwartz loves ranch dressing.  He puts it on everything.  I like it, but was always searching for a good recipe.  I'm not a huge fan of bottled ranch dressing, it just tastes well, bottled!  I found this recipe on Pinterest caught my eye and I figured I might as well give it a shot.  I have tried quite a few homemade versions but none have had a ton of flavor.  This recipe totally fits the bill. After finding this recipe there is always a jar of ranch in our fridge.

In a medium bowl, combine sour cream and mayonnaise
Add buttermilk
A buttermilk ranch dressing mix packet.  This is the "semi-homemade" part
Lots of black pepper
A dash of cayenne
Onion powder
Garlic salt
And stir
I also added a bit of fresh parsley since I had it in the fridge
As well as a little fresh lemon juice
There you have it, the perfect ranch dressing!
Use it on veggies, a big salad or an old pair of sneakers.

Semi-Homemade Ranch Dressing:
1/2 cup sour cream (light is okay)
1/2 cup mayonnaise (light is okay)
1/2 cup buttermilk (more or less depending on how thick you want it)
1 packet buttermilk ranch dressing mix
1/4-1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8-1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (depending on your taste)
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl.

Place in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving for best results.

Lasts about one week, if you don't eat it before then : )

Enjoy!
