Frisco Burger

Monday, November 5, 2012

Remember when I went to the DailyBuzz Food Festival in San Francisco?  Oh yeah, that was like three weeks ago so, probably.

Anyway, ever since I got back from San Francisco I have been craving what I remembered as the Frisco Burger from Hardees.  I made a homemade version and holy sweet mother of cheeseburgers it was good.  Texas toast, Jimmy's Thousand Island Dressing, bacon, cheese and a juicy burger.  You really can't go wrong.

Speaking of Jimmy's Dressing, I'm giving away one of their t-shirts this week.  Scroll to the bottom for more information and to enter the giveaway.

For now, let's get cooking.
Start with a pound or so of ground beef.
Add in several dashes of Worcestershire sauce.  I love the low sodium version, look for it.
A few cracks of black pepper and that's all you need.  Using your hands, mix everything together and form into patties.
Place them on the griddle if you have one.  If not, your frying pan works just fine.
Oh this dressing…I don't even like Thousand Island Dressing.  For real, When Jimmy's sent me this I thought…"humpf, to the back of the fridge it goes…to die."  Then I tried it on a ham and turkey sandwich that I pressed in the panini maker.  Ah-mazing.  For real.
Slather is on a thick slice of Texas Toast.
Brush the other side with melted butter…if you want the real hamburger joint feel.  You do, trust me.
Place both slices on the griddle.  Also, works just fine in the frying pan.
Add a slice of cheese to each side.
 Top one side with bacon.
Meanwhile, the burger was flipped and still frying.
Add the burger to the bacon side.
 Make it a sandwich.
Oh.em.gee.  For real.  The dressing is sweet and tangy, the bacon is salty and the burger, oh so juicy.  Hello fat pants.

Now for the giveaway.

Jimmy's has offered to give away a "Don'tcha Be Messin' with my Dressin'" shirt in either the men's or women's version to one lucky reader.

Seriously how fun are these!?

The best part, the only thing you have to do to enter is like my Facebook page (if you haven't already--if you already have you just have to click "I'm a fan" and/or like Jimmy's Dressing Facebook page.  Easy peasy.

Frisco Burger
(makes 4 burgers)

1 lb ground beef (I like to use the 85% for burgers)
1 tablespoon or so Worcestershire Sauce
15-20 cracks of black pepper
1/4 cup Jimmy's Thousand Island Dressing
2 tablespoons butter, melted
8 slices Texas Toast
16 slices American or cheese of your choice
8 slices of cooked bacon

Start by combining the ground beef, Worcestershire Sauce and black pepper in a large bowl.  Using your hands smash until everything is combined.  Portion the beef into four equal sized, thin patties.

Preheat a griddle or large skillet on medium high heat (400 degrees if you are using a griddle).  Place the patties on the griddle or skillet.

Meanwhile, spread the dressing on one side of each of the slices of bread.  On the other side, brush with melted butter.  Place the bread, butter side down, on the griddle.  It should be about time to flip the burger (2-3 minutes depending on how well done you want the burger).

Place one slice of cheese to each piece of bread.  On four slices of the bread, add the bacon on top of the cheese.

When the burger is done to your liking, place on top of the bacon.  Place the other slice cheese side down on top of the burger.

Slice diagonally and enjoy!
