Eggless Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Raise your hand if you don't like chocolate chip cookie dough.  I'm assuming you are not sitting there with your hand up so let's proceed.

The other day I had a hankering for cookie dough.  No idea where it came from but it hit me hard.  Ever since I had a serious spell of food poisoning landing me in the hospital for a few days right before Spring Break, I have been pretty careful about not eating things with raw eggs.  Although I did loose a few lbs right before heading to Mexico, it wasn't exactly the diet plan I had in mind.

Since then,  if you can believe it, I don't even sneak the smallest taste of anything with raw eggs.  Since I'm such a germaphobe no, I had to find a new way to get my cookie dough fix.  This is it and it is pretty close to the real deal.  Although it isn't as fluffy as the real deal, it tastes really good.  It makes the perfect amount to keep in your fridge when you need a little bite of sweetness.
Start with a stick of butter that has been sitting at room temperature so it is easy to mix.
Add white sugar
And brown sugar
Stir to combine
Add a little milk
Flour
Salt
Add vanilla as well.
Stir to combine, it will be nice and thick.

Add the chocolate chips and stir until they are evenly distributed in the dough.

That's it, dig in!

Eggless Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

1 stick of room temperature butter
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/4 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup chocolate chips

In a large bowl, combine the butter, white sugar, brown sugar, flour, salt, milk and vanilla.  Stir until everything is fully combined.  Mix in the chocolate chips.

That's it, enjoy!

    1. This recipe is actually intended to eat the dough and not bake them.

    2. So you are actually eating uncooked flour?

    3. Well it would be delicious due to the other yummy ingredients! But is it safe? Will the intestines not suffer?

    5. Actually, it isn't safe to eat raw flour. Most flour you'll ever use will have bacteria in it, which gets killed off in the cooking process. The longer you've had the flour sitting in your pantry, the higher the amount of bacteria. You're better off eating raw eggs.

    7. Actually, the health risks involved in consuming raw flour are very minor if you don't have gluten intolerance or celiac disease. as long as you don't eat raw flour often and in large amounts, it should be relatively safe.

  13. You can use flax and water to substitute the eggs. That way you can bake them and still eat the dough raw.

  16. Is this a good recipe to make into little balls for a cookie recipe? Cake batter, cookie dough cookie!

  17. Just microwave the flour and use a thermometer to make sure it gets above 165 degrees Fahrenheit. It seems like this would be pretty much the same thing as just baking the cookie. It doesn't take very long so don't set it on fire, the flour got to over 170 degrees after 2 1/2 minutes and there was a delay between when I measured the temperature and when it was done because I had to look for a battery for my thermometer.

  27. I love this! My next batch I'm going to try just 1cup flour (remove 1/4 cup), as I get a periodic taste of it over the cookie dough, but that's very minor..
I also recommend putting it in the fridge over night, it was good when I made it, was a lot better the next day... I really can't stop eating it! :)
